The Sorrow of being Immaculate is a Welsh doom/sludge/drone band.
Church Music for Satanists EP was written in a rented caravan during a trip to North Wales in early Autumn 2023. Those long nights in the dank Welsh countryside and the fear of nefarious local folklore spirits Old Magw the Witch & The Gwyllion seeped into these songs giving them an atmospheric doom.
"You dont need to be a Satanist to enjoy this.. it might help tho.." Dave Gilyeat, BBC Introducing
"If there ever was a title that lived up to its name, then it’s the debut EP title, Church Music for Satanists from British doom band The Sorrow of Being Immaculate. Moody and with the perfect amount of doom and gloom, Church Music for Satanists is the personification of what doom or sludge music is." Amplifythenoise
"The Sorrow Of Being Immaculate are proof that even a country with a vast scene like England can throw a couple of curveballs at you. A one-man doom act consisting of only guitar and bass somehow manages to make it unique and interesting." HeavymusicHQ
"Hide the sharp objects, this is downer stuff. The new EP from British doom/ sludge metaller The Sorrow Of Being Immaculate sure has an appropriate title; Church Music For Satanists is a demonic grind, all shade and no light.." The Rock Doctor
"You’re meant to get lost in Church Music For Satanists, as songs loop into each other and shamble forward. As an attempt to capture the isolation and long nights in the countryside, the EP is weirdly successful. There’s something haunted within the music here."

"How you enjoy this will largely depend on your tastes. If you go for doom or sludge then this will be up your street, especially if you are partaking of certain medicinal herbs. It's almost hypnotic as each refrain plays and repeats, sometimes ending abruptly.. I can see the endeavour behind it, how it came together, and how the result is wholly original. There are not many releases that can say that." musipediaofmetal
"You don't often hear a project like this. It literally distances itself from you and distances itself sonically from its namesake. An instrumental piece of futility."

"Church music for Satanists! Well, if that doesn't sound exciting, I don't know what does. But what kind of music would you expect to find in a Satanist church? Every song on “Church Music for Satanists” is basically a riff that is repeated forever like a mantra." Hellfire Magazine, Germany
"I understand why the person in question wishes to remain anonymous, for this piece of shit I would never put my name on it. Scrap!" Scream Magazine #282, Norway
